I can not wait for Spring. We got about 3" of snow/sleet today and I hate it. I can't imagine what all of you up north go through. Close to 700 accidents today around Raleigh and the immediate area. We can't drive in it and with our large influx of folks from up north who "know how to drive in it" make it even more scary. You could pretty much figure out who they were. The ones running 60 while everybody else was doing 30! Oh yeah, rookies with snow chains. I repeated a dreadful event that happened to me when I was 16. I bought a set of cables for my truck. Nice 72 Chevy daily driver. Box says cables will fit. Try to put said cables on truck tire with snow and sleet and 20 degrees. Cables won't quite fit. Read box. Box says be sure and check your cables for proper fitment prior to use in very small print of course. I make a connection with a rubber band provided and it looks tight enough to get me home. I had a 6 inch peice of cable that I tucked and tied and thought would hold. Not. It came loose and before I could stop knocked a spot of paint off my rear fender about the size of a golf ball. :x So after doing the same stupid thing 19 years ago, I hope i have learned that if the darn things don't fit perfect don't use em. Sorry for the long post. Did I mention I miss living in Daytona Beach?

Chris,

Sounds like a frightful mess. Don't look for sympathy from the north. We have had what seems like the worst January in many long years. Temps down to minus 20 on quite a few mornings. Lake effect snow from Erie and Ontario keeps us quite busy with the driveways and plowing the roads. We had two deaths in two days here as two cars plummetted from a bridge on a very busy highway. Both cars shot off the bridge only yards from each other. Quite coincidental. If you don't have a 4x4, good luck.

I miss Daytona too. Can't wait to visit next month.

Boy you guys are going through what I did when I lived in good ole Oklahoma. We've been whining because the temp went all the way down to 40 degrees at night around here. It got up to 65 yesterday so we went for a nice ride to the Columbia state park, Angels Camp and had a great time. Wish everyone could get down here and have some fun in the sun.

Winter

Oh by no means am I looing for sympathy. If anything, I'm sending some up your way. I can't imagine living with that kind of winter and like Barry's. Everybody has to live somewhere and I am very thankful to be able to live here in good ole NC. We get a couple or three of these things a year dumping a few inches and some ice and a foot of snow every 20 years. Lived here most of my life and the winters I would surely call mild. I love this state but sure miss the heck out of the Virgin Islands and Florida weather. Speaking about deaths, we had 5 yesterday alone from this crap. We are not equiped for it. It is funny that a lot of people around here when buying a truck or suv will rationalize not getting 4x4 because we only get this stuff a few times a winter and that it is not worth the extra $$$. I am the opposite. If I were to go buy me a truck or suv (soon) I would get 4x4 only because I might need it. Maybe I'm the one with the backwards thinking. Ya'll be good.

You have to look at winter as that time set aside (for those of us lucky enough to have it) for rebuilding, customising and tinkering, without depriving ourselves of quality riding opportunities.

You poor guys living in the warm climates can't even change oil or wash your scoots with out loosing out on great riding.....while we get to spend 5 to 7 months of quality time with our scoots.....missing out on rides only in our minds......

Boy, the firggin' winter weather has totally fried what few brain cells I had left

8" inches of snow last night, temps going back into the crapper tonight...
Why do humans live here??

Tim,
Between you and Berry, thanks for sending it along. We are supposed to get between 10-12" and at times as much as 2" an hour. Instead of quality time on the Hoss (or working on it) I will be spending "quality time" looking over a plow.
