Bike should be upright. Probably best to check after riding but let bike set for about 5 minutes before checking for fluid to drain back down.
trans fluid check & misc.
I'm getting different info. When checking the trans. fluid level should the bike be on the stand or upright, cold, or hot? Also, I just lost the bottom piece of the front forks, left side, below the axle nut on my 2000 and I'm not sure where to order a new one. Is this a dealer item? As far as I know everything is stock.

Not sure if that lower bracket is the same size as a Harley Piece. If not try a Dealer (Stamford or Mountain) may have one as they have changed some of those front ends with the newer inverted ones.
