Yikes. Went to change the oil yesterday and discovered those strange bolt heads. I'm sure I will get them off, but is there a special tool for them? I'm going to try some snap ring pliers in the holes and twist.

Crazy...Get the right tool! This Snapon item is great and it's hard to over-torque the pan bolts. Just make sure the tool is flush against the bolts when you tighten because it has a tendency to slip out if the holes in the bolts. Keep your ratchet handle parallel to the pan as you tighten. Go back and forth between the two to get nice even pressure and you'll have no leaks...Joe

NO...Don't do 12 ft/lbs.! just snug them down fairly tight and forget about the torque. I have found 12 inch/ lbs. to be too loose and 12 ft/ lbs. to be way too much. I never use a torque wrench anymore on these and have no leakage problems. Snug them down equally to just compress the cork gasket and STOP!...Joe
