OK, I 've bought this used bike and the rear is a avon 230 some there I read that one of you guys will lend out a groover.... If I pay the shipping..I have no problem with that, but here's my question...will that weaken the tire? what's your imput on running a car tire, how does it handle on curves? I mean at $200 for an avon, what size car tire would work? also the front tire is cupping what caused that and how can I prevent the new tire from doing the same ? I am not planning on doing burn outs, just want a safe and stable bike....thanks keith

Keith...The groover is cheap...I believe $59-$69 or so. By the time you pay shipping both ways and if you intend to keep your Boss it pays to buy one. You cut the grooves only as deep as the grooves that are already there so the carcass of the tire is as strong as ever. I always groove my rear Avons and the traction in the wet is so much better that you 'll think it's a different tire. The pattern also looks better. Many of us routinely groove them as well as I and no one, to my knowledge, has ever been sorry for doing it. Easy and a really good mod. AFCO makes the tool...Joe

Keith,
Not sure the mileage on that bike but the front tires ore only good for about 8K miles and they will cup. Worse if you do a lot of aggressive cornering and braking. Also low air pressure will cause it to go that much quicker.
