After installing the 2004 "upgraded" wiring harness into my 2000 small bock which was a *#%king nightmare and even more difficult to route the wires, my tach doesn't work. I should have stayed with the stock harness because I see no advantage with the 2004 version but only problems. When I turn on the ignition the needle moves to zero so I know it has juice. Starting the motor, however, produces no needle movement. What have I done wrong? Please explain in electronically challenged gynecologist terms....Joe

I did the 03 harness on my 2000 and you will need to do something like use the wire that is the clock wire. It is simple so first you find the plug in at the dist cap which is the back one. Next you will need to make sure you use a wire that will end up at the tach. I used the clock wire cause I didn't need it since I didn't have a clock. The problem is the top harness for the dash is not the same as the 03 one so you have to make it work. The 03 has wires for turn light and so forth. Figure which wire goes to the sender to the tach and that is not to bad to figure because the light, positive, and ground wire stand out but the other one is what you want to use. I ended making a separate wire all the way with a connector plug beside the factory one. If you have any trouble you can call me and I will try to help.

Adrian

If this is confusing let me know and I will send you an e-mail.

DUH!! The tach was unplugged under the dash! The male/female connector had separated. Then came the hardest job of all...harder than splitting the frame, changing the tranny or motor. TRYING TO GET THOSE DAMN DASH SCREWS INTO THE HOLES! I tried piloting them in with a thin phillips, eyeballing them from the side, etc. Must have taken more than a half hour. Next time I have the dash off I'm goig to grind points on those damn bolts to find the hole more easily. You'd think that I, of all people would have no problem finding holes! Give me an easy hysterectomy any time. Thanks for the help, Adrian..you are always there for me when needed...Joe
