Well, thankfully I got the boss back on the road today. Everything seems great. I can definitely feel the improvement with the Coan converter. It goes into gear real quick and as others have said the tractor feel when you start is gone. I only rode about 10 miles but so far it seems great and tranny shifts very smooth. The only concern I have is there was a small amount of tranny fluid on the ground this morning and it was coming from the bell housing. I checked all the fittings and the back of the converter felt dry. I'm hoping that it is just from the spillage while installing the converter. Once I had it on, I wiped up what I could reach but maybe when I finally put the bike down on the kick stand it allowed any remaing fluid that I could not reach to run out. I will know for sure tomorrow morning. A possible cause is me somehow damaging the seal whilst installing the converter. Hopefully not. I can assure you that if I do have a leak I will be putting some carboard under the beast for a while because I am certainly not into another tear down any time soon! Man, that was a project for me but at least I know what to do now.

Chris,

Congrats on your project. I'd run it a few days to make sure it'e not residual fluid, and also check the breather on the tranny. If you went to higher stall on the converter than stock, it is going to build more pressure & some more heat and you will get some "blow-by". I did on mine and solved it by putting a nipple fitting in place of the breather and running a line into a small catch can ( about 3 oz).

Good luck.

Chris , seems like I remember Joe Ramari having some fluid under his trans. after the rebuild and converter change . Hopefully it is only temporary .
