Back to the subject of spare parts to carry. In addition to the usual alt belt spare plug wire etc. I usually carry a spare Carter barrel style fuel pump. I was 50 miles from home when my last one left me on the side of the road. It was a brand new Holly Blue pump that siezed. Yesterday I was heading to Boss Hoss in Stamford and made it only 20-30 miles from home when my Holly Red pump crapped out. I thought it was going because it acted up last week one day, and this time I didn't bother to play with it. Swapped it out in a parking lot just off the highway. (Good thing for downhill exit ramps in just the right places). In 5 minutes while I was taking off the seat and getting my tools and pump it had cooled down enough and would work but I didn't trust it. This pump lasted 29K miles.
