Does anyone know a sure fire way to remove thick silicone from a painted surface without damaging the paint ? I siliconed those paintsaver gas tank spout things on my Boss and even though I think they are practical I want to remove them to use some different caps . The silicone on these paint savers is about 1/8 th of an inch thick and is very well bonded and won't just peel off . I know WD40 works in some cases but not in this case.

Thanks, Jack

Acetone should do it and won't hurt your paint. I know it will take crazy glue off paint and not adversely affect the finish so it won't hurt the paint to give it a try.
