Just installed a new Powermaster starter On my Boss . Looks to be a much better starter than the Tuff Stuff starter that I had on it .

Jack - do you notice any differnce in the cranking?? How much smaller is the powermaster then the stock chromed unit?
I do think it cranks a little faster and the starter is a little smaller . I appears to be more water tight and much more precision made . It ought to be for $ 286.00 . Now I have a powermaster starter , Powermaster alternator and the higher flow water pump. I still have all the old stuff for spares just in case .
no wonder why you'll take the Boss to California!!

Not a big noticable difference cranking a cold engine, but it cranks a hell better (faster), when the engine's hot.

I bought exactly the same components- except the new style water pump. I just bought a new "old style" WP, but I've got all the old parts for spares, too.

Sometimes it's better to order parts in time. The starter took Summit 3 month to be able to deliver it. Don't know why, but it's always backordered. Seems to be a "best seller"....

I had the same problem with summit . It took almost a month and a half to recieve my starter . I called the factory and they were out of small block Powermaster starters also .

As far as the water pump goes , I feel much more confident in the new style pump . Much quieter , water resistant , and much more precision made than the stock pump . Besides the pump being made of stainless steel I think the coolant runs 5-10 degrees cooler and when the coolant temp. raises when sitting in traffic and the fan goes on , the coolant seems to cool down a lot faster.

The water pump is going on today along with the 950 Demon. Can't wait to see the delta in the water temps!! I also got the finned cover for the pump yesterday and it will be going on as well. The BH won it's first trophy at a local car and bike show in Ft Worth last Sunday :D . The new pump will look a lot better and I hope will perform a lot better as well!
I think you will like it . One thing I did that you might want to consider was I didn't use the rubber mounting grommets , instead I use a piece of rubber 1/4 " thick x the size of the base of the pump . On my small block the grommets just seemed to high and with the 1/4" rubber things just lined up better . I also had to drill new mounting holes in the plate on the bike to offset the pump towards the outside of the plate to clear my timeing pointer . Yours may be different . All in all it turned out to be a nice clean install .
The Powermaster starter made a great difference for my small block stroker. Turns the engine over much faster with no "groaning" or hesitation. Maybe I'm stupid but the factory will get one to your house in 2 days or overnight for a few bucks more than Jegs or Summit. The difference of $20 for a $30K bike seems silly to me.
