Hey what did you guys do about the linkage that looks like it's going to hit the frame when you add a 1/2" plate under there?

Lamont,

The rail must be "dimpled" to clear it. On mine they cut out a piece and welded it back in 'inside out' if you know what I mean.

Tim
Lamont,

I think that NOS (or someone) makes a plate that is 3/8". You might check with Marv or Breedlove. I think mine is 3/8".

Tim
Nitrous works use to make a 3/8" plate but they don't anymore. I guess if I got to modify the frame anyway an 1/8" isn't going to matter.

Anyone have a deal on a bottle setup?
I took a grinder and ground a spot in the frame where it hit. It did not take much. You also have to grind a little on the nos plate on the right side to clear the linkage on the carb. This is the one that drove me nuts until I found where it was hitting. If you get your setup from Marv he grinds it for you. I got mine from Jegs so end up taking my tank on and off about four times before I found the trouble.

NOS Install

I ran a Cheater system on my SBC, had to heat the frame and used a ballpeen hammer, alittle paint, and everything worked great. If you cant re-weld the frame, this works and it takes about 30-45min, I had to move the frame almost 1/2 " in so the linkage would'nt hit.
My 05 was already dimpled from the factory.
I notched the frame on mine for the clearances on my 98.

Lamont,

Also remember to check the clearance of your air cleaner ass'y once you get the plate in. My tank was moved up and back to clear the aircleaner and the NOS controller........on the rear, they drilled into the frame and tapped it so the tank bolts to the frame, in the front they just repositioned the holes on the tabs. Not a lot, but it was necessary.

Tim
Yea I already bolted the back of the tank through the frame so I'm good there. I guess if I can get a two speed in a 99 frame I should be able to get a nitrous plate in there. ;)

I think you'll do just fine. I think a lot of guys have done it without preplanning and have a few issues with the linkage hanging....tons of excitment.

Tim
MBH bend the link somehow - they say there's no need to cut into the frame.

Rob.
Anyone have any info on a nitrous setup on a fuel injected small block 385? I possibly would be interested if there was a set up available.
A question for you guys with NOS.

How durable is the bracket used to mount the bottle to the bottom of the rear shock?

I'm wondering how much pounding it will take riding down a rough road. I have to believe it wouldn't last long. Has anyone ever lost a bottle that way? :?: :?: :?:

Bryan
Our roads are so rough my alternator fell off.... NOS bottle is fine.
Bryan,

14,000 miles....both bottles still there

Tim
What's the scoop on this NOS Top Shot nitrous system . Seems like this would eliminate a few installation problems .

Jack
S--t , I knew it sounded to good to be true .

Thanks,
Jack
Jack,

These 'plate' systems are really slick. The only modification is the frame "dimple" (should be easy for you) and the raising of the tank to accomodate the added 3/8" to 1/2" for the spray plate. Otherwise the install and the solenoids are really simple...the plumbing for the bottles is straightforward and you'd love it.....it is such a kick when you touch the button

You know how fun it is to spin the tire now???? One time with the 'juice' and you'll have to go see your doctor to wipe the grin off your face and get rid of the bulge in your jeans......
