I've been Lurking for a couple of months now and finally decided to try this board out. I may need some big brother guidance, so if ya'll see anything I'm doing wrong let me know.

I bought a 2005 ZZ4 in January from Performance Collections in New Orleans LA. I've put around 4000 miles on it since then. Words cannot describe how this thing handles and runs. I have had 2 Electra Glides, and a Screamin Eagle Road Glide, none of which would even compare. I still have a 80 model FLT I am rebuilding and customizing. I'm 42 years young, I Have a Fertilizer and Chemical Applicating Business near Helena Arkansas. I've got a lot of (Harley) buddies I ride with who think I have lost my mind.

I have a lot of questions I'd like to ask, maybe over the next couple of weeks I can get some answers.

I have solved a lot of my problems with the board already, the high speed wobble was the most important one. After I lined the wheels up the wobble is gone.

Has anyone heard the bird chirping around the drive pulley? It gets pretty loud when you get on the throttle. The belt is in the center of the pulley, and the belt seems to be as tight as a fiddle string. I tightened the alternator belt also but it still does it. It started all of a sudden about 3500 miles, and it doesnt do it all the time.
Any help here will be appreciated.

I'm also wondering about the mileage, I'm getting 14 or 15 is this normal? I heard about people getting 20 or 25. Mine has the full fairing and hard bags, I dont know if this makes any differance or not.

I wanted to join the BHRA, I left two messages on a recorder but no one has returned my call. Is it better to e-mail them or call? Ive been a HOG member for 10 years and really enjoyed getting the magazines, I hoped the BHRA would be something to get involved with.

Any way I have wasted enough of ya'lls time. Hope to ride with some ya'll soon. Big T

Hay Big T

I had a bad squeel , not a chirp at start up. It was the alternater belt and it didnt matter how much I tightened it. I Put a new one on and problem solved. May not be what your problem is , but quite a few here suggest carrying a spare belt so a change is an easy try.

I have a 1980 flt also. Bought at an auction and brought it around to pretty good shape. It dont get out much now.

Welcome

Big T;

Welcome! I came from many years of "sport touring, and or Crotch Rockets" to a Boss, so you can imagine my pleasure!

Not just the Boss, but the camaraderie through this, and the BHRA site, and so far, almost everyone associated with the Boss community.

I bought an older machine, and these folks have been priceless in their advice, instruction, and selfless help.

You have one V8'er there in your neighborhood. Elvis, and he rides a King V I believe it's called. Again, welcome. Some really experienced and wise folks here to make your Boss experience more enjoyable.

Ride Safe!

sounds like your drive belt at the front pulley. you may have to aling your engine so the front and rear pulleys are aligned or could just be a matter of moving the front one over a bit.

BigT,

Welcome aboard.

I had that same "chirp" on mine. It was the belt tension. If you don't have the belt tension gauge, I would get one. Mine needs to run about 450# to get the chirp out of it. Also make sure that the belt is aligned to center in both front and back pulley.

You're gonna love it
