Metric speedometer calibration

Hey Barry

Or anyone else that might know. I have the directions on how to calibrate an mph speedometer by going 2 miles and fiddling. Lazy me , I have not gone out to try and calibrate using 2 kilometers instead. Will that work.

Bill,
depends on what year your autometer is. For older metric meters it is still 2 miles, for newer ones it is 2 kilometers. My bike is build 04/2003 and I had to calibrate in miles. Used a GPS for that, and it works very accurate now.
Autometer could not tell me when they changed it, but if you calibrate only 2 kilometers instead of 2 miles, the meter will go way to fast. Pretty easy to find out.

Thanks I will try both. Right now it registers 80 and I think I am going about 100k. At least it keeps the milage down.
