Lamont, the numbers in this survey are pretty small to gauge. I've found very few owners within the Boss Hoss community that wrench their own. Lots of guys using a dealer, local mechanic, another Boss owner who can wrench, etc.

It may be accurate though in that the people who use this forum do most of their own wrenching but I don't think it's representative of the majority of Boss owners. Just my impression especially after looking in at the Yahoo board for so long. :?:

I thiink your reply is accurate Lamont. Most of the people that frequent this board, do so because they are gearheads! They want to know the latest and the best about their machine. The many owners of bikes that buy them as a status symbol or just something to show would not normally spend time in a board reading about the bikes or know enough about them to carry much discussion, other than what it cost!! Wrenching

I agree most of us are gearheads and like to know everything about our rides. I do most of my own wrenching but my old body just doesn't take it like it used too. :? Riding the Boss is where it's at and I will do whatever it takes to keep the bad boy going. It ahsn't let me down yet! :D

Gear Head

I cannot even begin to call myself a gear head, or a novice mechanic. But
I have to do almost all of the work on my bikes by myself, but that is only because I have no other choice.. I am stuck on an island in the middle of the Pacific ocean with no support.. The factory is of little or no help at all, all I get from them is excuses and passed on to some one else along the line till the warranty was fully expired and they have no further obligation to assist me. I get all of my parts from SIRON and they are my only source of information besides this site, the BHRA site and the Yahoo site. Without guys like Adrian, and the rest of you guys, for information and assistance I would have had to ride my bikes into the ocean for a fish habitat a long time ago. Just to ship my bike to Calif from here is over $1000.oo each way.. If I had a spare bedroom, it would almost be worth it to pay someone to fly over here and fix my bikes for me.. Once I get my last daughter married off, and out of my house, I may just do that . I could probably get someone from Siron to come here when there is a foot of snow on the ground over there.

Wrenching Own Boss

It's kinda funny, since God invented trifocals, and riding Jap for years, I had no desire, and very little need to wrench my own. However I (with you'alls guidance) really enjoy working on the Boss. Got a whole heap of projects lined up now, and have "saved" the appropriate threads from this and the Country site to do them. Was invited to the yahoo site, but too ignorate to get logged on there. Gonna have to get someone on while I'm on the phone while I'm on my cell to talk me thru that. Thanks all for your frequent guiadance!

I never wrenched on my Hondas. Always took them in for service. I have never taken my Boss for service anywhere. I have done all the work myself or with the help and or advice from friends including you guys on this board. All the guys on this board and the yahoo board make it possible for me to do my own wrenching and I really appreciate it.

nobody does it better then MYSELF!! I have never taken a bike to anybody and have only taken my car when I needed an expensive tool to fix something and figured I'd only use the tool once. I love wrenching more then riding..
