Great Weather and Ride today

3129 Views 20 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  V8GRUMPY
The temp reached high 70's today and after about 10:00 a.m. the fog and cloud cover burned off. I rode with a group of Southern Cruisers from here in Tallahassee to Palatka, Florida and back today (over 400 miles round trip). The bike ran great and I finally found those secondaries I've heard so much about. What a great day!

I hope some of you guys got a chance to get out today also.

Rick, Didn't get a chance to get out today. I'm think'n maybe around April or May sometime I might make it !!!!!!! I'm so glad your enjoying your new ride. Hope your saving up some $ for the National Rally this year. Steve
long ride

i make that ride when i am in fla did your group stop at CASTUS JACKS or the CHEYENE heading south on rt 17 or rt 19 to the Cow Catcher there are some good stops. the last three days has been snow and ice storms but next thur might be in the 50s or low 60s with dry roads so i will riding.
I didn't make it out yesterday, or Friday, because of the rain. So I took a chance this morning and rode to work, thick fog, and slick roads, but it was still more fun than taking the truck. It'll be really nice this evening on the way home, partly cloudy and 70 degrees. :D
Nice Ride

Ricky;

My ride Fri. wasn't nearly as much fun as yours. Had to wear my straw hat to keep from sunburning my floppy old ears, and shorts to keep cool. Course I was on my 5 speed (lawn tractor)! Got behind mowing and could have bailed it!

Guess that's more fun than chipping frost off the shield with a credit card! God I love Fl.! Had a nice putt on the Boss today.

You southern boys make me want to puke. It's ****ing January and the trees are breaking because of being laden with ice. The roads are either wet, full of salt and/or sand or icy. The wind chill is -4 and nobody is riding in NJ.
So, get with the program and stop with the "great day to ride" horse****. Did you hear us northern boys talk about what great riding weather we were having here during your 4 hurricanes?
Christ!...have a little compassion!
Haven't seen the sun in a week, have had to take four days off of work because of the Flu and have to be flogged with self- congratulating "chirping" from the South....Jealous Joe
Joe, WELL put. I couldn't have said it better. Although we don't have much snow, we have enough ice to fill every cocktail glass in the world...with the exception of Grumpy's!!! This is a new rule....every time one of the Southern boys starts to rap about how nice it is where they live and the great riding weather...they have to buy everyone that lives in the frozen tundra, that's on this board, a beer! With that said, I'm going to go back in my sleeping bag to keep warm and watch the Packers kick the Vikings ass ! :beer8: Yahoooooooooooeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! Steve
Nice Ride

Sorry all;

Couldn't resist that one!

I'm game for those beers though. Already put in for vacation for bike week, and will have my cell with me the whole time.

I've done my time in Sonderstrom Greenland, and Goose Labrador in winter in the military, and it just makes me appreciate my fortune in finding a post here that much more. Been Snowed into Buffalo too.......

Ride Safe when ya can.

I love the change of seasons....until the seasons change. Unfortunately, 3 kids and 2 grand kids in NJ whoch will keep me here. As much as I love the riding ...there is no way I'll move away from them but maybe they'll decide to move south. Bull****...I'm doomed to spend Nov. thru March going into my garage in a heavy jacket fiddling with the Boss and dreaming.
The summer, however is a different story when anything south of North Carolina becomes a living ****ing heat hell when riding becomes a barbecue on the Boss. There have been times when travelling through the South that I holed up in a motel during the day and rode only at night because of the oppressive heat.
Pick your poison...Joe
I like Steves idea on the beers. But now just think, its a whole different riding experience up here in the northeast in the winter that they don't get to enjoy. This time of year with the sidecar rig you can do all the slideing around, broadsliding and screwing around with not so much wear and tear on your tires. Plus the plow crews wonder as you are cruising up the road on your bike while everyone is in their heated cages. You just need to add a sidehack or studed tires.

Great Day here!! Low 70's and went thru 9 gallons and a little rubber today! Oh how I love it so!!!!! :beer3:
A pox on all of your houses!. Is a mild 29 degrees here and the road surfaces are like ball bearings where there is no ice and like WD-40 where there is. Went through a pint of Jack Daniels today...I love it!....Joe
All you Snowbirds need to come south and ride in the nice warm sunshine.

This is the best time for Yankee's to come south because the Gators are Hungry.

Wouldn't want to take a curve too fast and end up with those boys!!!!!!!!!
Steve-O,

How's it going there in the land of LOSERS??????

Damned, and you have to spend the next year admitting that a piece of **** team like the Vikings kicked ass, took names, spit you back out and then "mooned" your cheering section  ........Getting beat is something of its' own, but the Vikes kinda humiliated the "pack".....might the knickname "packer" stand for some other talent than football???? Hhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm

Actually, the way they both played, neither of them deserved to be in the wildcard playoff. Only good thing about Sunday was the fresh snow/ice we got for my cocktail glass  8) Never ran low 8)

See ya..............Tim
Tim, Umm....err.....ahh...well.....ya know...um...ummmm...its.....um...well
.......you know what I'm talking about... um.....er....about...... . So ya been ridin much lately? I'm just can't wait to collect all these beers from the "down below" guys. Steve

P.S. I think Randy Moss is a dick....and I agree neither team looked good enough to make the playoffs...but we got our ass kicked...and we deserved it. I'll have a hard time cheering the Vikes next week with Dick Head on the team. Hopefully they'll kick him off the league.
Steve,

Personally, I'd like to see them suspend him for the rest of the playoff games. Then trade the freak to Green Bay

10-4 on the riding......no the scoot though 8)

Steve,

When we meet, please remind me that I owe you that beer. I'm good for it. You going to Daytona this year?
Rick, Can't make Daytona. Heading out to Phoenix to visit my brother and ride in some nice weather (does this cost me a beer?) We are however going to Myrtle Beach in May. Anyone else from here going there? Rick, don't worry....I'll remind you, you owe me a beer and Grumpy and Joe and Glenn and Wag and Jack and Geezer and and and and

:capwin:
Steve
Steve,

I plan to be in Myrtle Beach. Don't live too far away but hope to get down for a couple of days the middle of the week. Maybe I'll catch ya hanging around the factory rig.
