Thanks,

i use a AVON venomX mt90 hb 16 black $90 1.5" ww sells $120 on for 2500 mile works well on my 350 Jack
Thanks Gizmo,
I also have been running Avon Venom tires . I run the 140 rear tire on the front and have had good luck ,but you hear so many horror stories about out of round Avon tires that I thought I would try another brand . The last thing I want to do is mount a tire and then have to tear it all down because it is out of round . I read that some have had very good reports on the Metzler 880 Marathon . Can someone give me any advise ?

Jack
Jack,

I'm running the 880 Marathon on the front and have about 3500 miles on it. Great tire, but mine is on an 18" wheel.

I had gone from the Avon to a Michelin Commander on the stock rim, and Wag is now running my old tire on his. He thought (and so did I) that it handles way better than the Avon. Sticks really good in the turns.

Tim
Hi Tim ,

What size is the Michelin Commander and is it listed as a front tire or a rear tire? If it is listed as a rear tire , did you mount it in reverse direction ? Also is the load rating OK for the Boss ?

Thanks,
Jack
Hey Wag ,

I'm probably asking the wrong person about the Michelin seeing as how you are running it now . How do you like it and what size is it ? Is it a front or rear tire ?

Thanks ,
Jack

Jack,
I'm on my second Michelin Commander now, and I really like it.
Nothing bad to say about it. The first one was good for 7500 miles,
then I had to replace it. I can't compare it to the Avon, cause I have
no experience with the it. But you'll not be dissapointed about
the Michelin. It's a "front" tire - no need to mount it in reverse direction.

Michelin also makes a Commander 130/90-16 reinf. 73H since
a short time. I wanted to try it, but nobody could tell me for sure
that this new, reinforced tire has the same pattern as the "normal"
Commander. Therefore I bought the MT 90 B16 71H again.

Thanks for the info. Olaf .

Does anyone know anything about the Michelin 130/90-16 reinf. tire that Olaf is refering to ?

Thanks,
Jack
Michelin

Jack,

I am on my 2nd Commander and think it is a great tire for the Boss. I started out with the Avon and only got between 4-5,000 miles on it, I get double that with the Michelin. I also believe the tread design is better for dry and wet riding.

I went thro several tires that was out of round, separated and other problems so I ended up with the Michelin tire Commander 130/90-16 with it being the answer for me.
Great balance and lasted longer than any other tire I had.

Front Tire

Jack,
I am running the Metzeler 880 Marathon front and have been very happy with it. The mileage is real good as it seems to be much more resistant to cupping than other tires I've used. If properly balanced I think you could see 15,000 miles out of this tire.
Rick
Thanks again guys for your input . I'm thru with Avon front tires but I'll have to decide between the Michelin or the Metzler . Where are the best deals on these tires ? I know when I buy 230 Avons , I buy them from Honda Direct for about $ 180.00 . Do they sell all brands and sizes ?

Thanks,
Jack
Front Tire

Jack,
Check with CycleKing.com for a price on the front tire. He has all brands and is very resonable. I got my Metzeler from him for right around $100.

Rick
Thanks Rick , I'll check out cycleking . By the way , did you see my question in the tech. section about the rotors ? If you don't care to answer I understand . I know I ask a lot of questions .

Jack
Missed Tech Question

Jack,
So sorry. I missed your tech question all together. I will go there now and look for it.

Rick
I've decided to go with the Michelin Commander 130/90H-16 front tire for my Boss . Seems the best deal I've found so far is from Dennis Kirk for $118.00 , free shipping . Us old retired guys are always looking to save a buck . Is this the best deal ? I checked Cycleking and they said they don't ship tires .

Thanks,
Jack
You can get the Michelin Commander from these guys for $86.00:

I just ordered the Metzeler 880 from them for $81.00.

I have had good luck with these people, they ship immediately and are very good.

Hey thanks a million Mike , that's more like the price I was looking for .
