Fork Oil

I've got my front forks apart to have the lower legs and the tweak bar rechromed and I'd like to know what Brand and weight fork oil you guys with the old style front ends have found to work best . I've been using 15 weigh fork oil and it seems to be OK but am open to suggestions.

Thanks,
Jack

Jack...when I had my 2000 forks they were so stiff that I tried 10W oil...no difference. Then I tried 3W oil...still no difference at all. I'm telling you because I'm really not sure it matters at all...Joe

I changed mine 3 times in 36,000 miles and on the third change I went to 7.5 weight and it seemed to work the best. I changed it the first time to 5 weight and it was fine but decided to go back up a little.

Thanks guys ,

I also have tried 8 weight and 15 weight and couldn't really see a big difference . My forks seemed to work OK , but I'm concerned about when I replace the seals , is it going to be stiff . I heard that some of the guys trimmed the seals in the lower legs a little bit for less friction . Can anyone give me some advise on this ?

Thanks,
Jack
Jack...Mike Levesque (Carburetor Mike) has the answer about the seals....Joe
