:?: :?: Ok all you electrical buffs.... I've put on a led bar accross the top of the trunk. I want this to run only with the brake ..not the running lites. It has 2 wires coming from it..hot and ground. I grounded it and wired the hot end to just in front of the plug in under the trike. It has 4 wires going to the plug, one being a red wire which works with the brakes. After tapping into it. the LED works fine with the brakes..on ..off no problem, but when I turn on either turn signal, 2 LED lites come on at one end of the lite bar and blink with the tail lite. The same 2 lites come on with either the right or left turn signal. GO figure...... Do I need to wire the hot lead farther up by the fuse box or what. (if so, where) Seems like I'm getting a little feed back thru the wire. I ran an extra ground from the lites as a check..made no difference. I know the brake lights work off the blinker side of the 1157 bulbs. Someone please help me...I'm getting pissed off at this deal.
Another note....The brake lights and turn signal lights have always been dimm on this trike.(thats why the extra brake lite) The lights I have are the tear drop LED tail lites. Any thoughts on making them brighter in the brake lite or blinker mode of operation..i.e. heavier blinker switch!!!!!! Thanks........ :? :p  8) Steve

Steve,

You might try running the hot lead for the light right to the brake light switch (hot side) and see if that helps. I think Neal alway had the same issue with his tailights and that is why he went to an auxillary light.

Steve:

Give Tim Siron a call, as he has the info on tailights for the Duce Trike.

The factory upgraded the rear lights, and might have been for the 2004 model. Anyway, Tim has all the info, and the parts to upgrade.

Steve,
When dealing with LED's, make sure you have a GOOD ground! I grounded the taillights directly to the battery terminal. I also cut off the socket pigtail plug-in on the LED taillights, removed the 1157 socket from the original light and hard-wired it in. Nice and bright now!

Also, for your aux. brake light, take the power off the rear brake switch output directly, do not try to tap into the wires at the rear of the body.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Crusin Dave or Tim.....save me some time.. where is the rear brake switch located :?: . Just get me in the general area. After I get this all figured out Geez maybe I'll call Siron and see what the upgrade is all about. When you turn the blinker on..I mean ..really.. you can hardly see the sob.....get in the sunlight, you might as well forget it! BTW (by the way).....this is my wife's trike..why the hell am I doing all this work and taking all the stress.....any ideas out there what I should ask in return from her for all this ??? Yahoooooeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! Steve

You better be nice to Barb, or she will tell you the same thing she told
me in Dyersburg.... heehee.

Tim has the upgrade LED tailights that are standard on the 04's I believe.
He also has a relay system, that feeds more power to the tail lights
to make the LED's brighter. I have both on my trike and they are a vast
improvement over the 1157 bulbs. Tim has been fighting this dim light
problem on the 32's for several years.

The third light is also a great idea that Mountain puts on all their trikes
also.

Tell him to give you "Geezer's" discount....List plus 500% minus 5%.......

Bet your freezen your a&$ off up there !! GO GREEN BAY !!!!!!!!!

Geez, I'm heading to Milwaukee tommorrow to have the new Boss tweaked out and a convertor. Be there a couple of days before coming home with the bike. I'm going to talk to Steve at Milwaukee Boss Hoss and see what his take is also. I'm sure I'll end up with an upgrade deal...but it is a shame I should have to deal with it at all. There should be some sort of standard on these bikes. I've seen more than one with weak looking tail lights. Where's the factory on this?????????? Anyway, Thanks for your feedback. I really appreciate it. BTW, its was in the low 50's today.......but when winter hits, I'm sure it will kick me in the ass... big time.... Steve

Oh yeah...I forgot...I added the relays to the turn signal circuits as well, one relay for each side. Thanks for the reminder Geezer!

Steve,
The rear brake light switch is in the brake line just aft of the rear master cylinder on the right frame rail. Unless they've moved it since 2002...

If my memory serves me correctly, Tim found about these lights from
an aftermarket company.

He advised the factory of how much better they were, and the factory
made them standard on the new 32 trikes.

Guess its just a matter of these aftermarket companies filling the
demand.

How do you like those new "bullet" controls on your 05?? I was thinking about getting them for my trike.
