Dry Cell Batteries

I have been real happy with my "ODYSSEY" dry cell battery. I got the bigger one (PC925MJT) and so far I think it is well worth the money. I have started my bike in some real cold weather with no problem. :D Having 925 cranking amps is a real +.

I have had two acid batteries boil on me in the Boss and I can tell you that is no fun  With this new battery I will never have to worry about that again 8)

Drycell

I also run a Odessey drycell battery but mine is the PC680 . I had a rigid leather tool box made which is 8" x 8" x 4" wide that fits behind the battery. In this box I can fit a small flashlight , spare fuel pump , alt. belt , head light and tail light bulbs , throttle cable , coil , module , rotor , fuses , tire plug kit , starter relay , some wire and connectors and a few other odds and ends. I also carry any tools I might need in an emergency in my fork tool bag. Sure hope I don't have to use any of this stuff , but we all know we could.
While we are on this subject does anyone know of a small tire inflater , like maybe CO2.

How many of these would it take to inflate a 230, 250, or 280, enough to reach an air supply?
Elvis

One will get you to a station as a rule. I have the kit and had to use it on my Trailer and it worked so well I still have it in there and have been about 10,000 miles so far. I did buy a spare so when it gives up I will be ready.

I have had my 625 now for 2 years and it is still doing well. I have a question for you and that is which bolts did you use to hook up your cables? I used the small ones that came with it and would like to use bigger ones but I'm a little afraid to try to do something different such as try to remove the plugs in it.

Adrian
Elvis, I have used two to air up a tire on a harley. It is suprising how much one of the cannisters hold.

Adrian , I used the small bolts also. I peeled back the rubber on my stock side mount cables and I saw there was a small hole in the cable end , so I reworked the stock cable ends and made the small hole a little larger to fit the bolts that came with the battery with star lock washers for a good connection and I have rubber covers over them. Seems to work fine so far .
Tire repair kit

Lamont , how large is this tire repair kit ?

Wish I could tell you but I have never seen one in person :( I don't think they are very big at all. I know the BMW guys like them.

I have been thinking of buying a small 12V air pump and mounting it permently. You could carry a small clear hose suitable for airing up tires in very little space. I have seen some very small air pumps at Wally World. I just have not got around to doing it. Take Care

Now that sounds like a hell of a good Idea. Do you have a picture of these pumps? It would have to be pretty small. I really like that idea.

How about this 150PSI ... rechargable AND 12V power source:

I've never seen or used this but it looks like it would easily do the job and it is SMALL

That looks OK , but I think if we had a small 12 Volt compresser mounted like maybe under the seat or anywhere it could fit that would be great.
V-Man,

That 12V rechargeable you showed looks EXACTLY like what I've been looking for. It also appears it may fit in the storage box on the '01 and later models. Wow, 150 psi. Nice and many thanks...

I plan to order one before next season myself :) I like the fact that it can use it's own power source OR be plugged into a 12V outlet. Size/output and simple use should make it a "winner"
