The rear brakes are self centering. They require that the link be free floating at both ends to work. It is VERY common for these to freeze up due to moisuure, rust, etc. When it happens your rear brakes will pull to one side from too much pressure on the side.
Grab the rear link (the round chrome bar) and twist it with your hand. If it moves freely fine. If not take it off and lubricate both ends. You may need a padded vise and screwdriver to break it loose. Usually, the rear link will freeze up first.
