I was at California Boss Hoss in Torrance yesterday and had a great time meeting Victor and his crew. They said they have been communicating with Jay Leno and he may soon be joining our ranks! Looks like they are off to a great start! Good luck Victor and see you all again soon, Mike//

The California situation is kind of a shame, if I have my info right. Isn't it the law in California that you can bring in a used bike with no restrictions, but a new bike purchased in California must comply with their red tape?

I picture Jay Leno on a Big Block with an all aluminum 606ci Merlin Racing Engine... with nitrous! 8) (couldn't find one of these emoticons with a big chin). I'm assuming that this would have to be purchased "used" from Mountain or someone and shipped in to get around the system. Mountain could "sell it" to a customer, put 10-15 miles on it and then ship it to Jay!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong so I understand the law out there.

Bill:

Don't know if this is correct, but I thought you needed something like
5000 miles for the used deal. Adrian should have the stright scoop.

No problem, ship with a used speedo head, with the new one in the box

Wonder if he would come to "Dyersberg" for the national

I have bought two Boss Hoss's out of the state. The law requires you to own the bike for 90 days and have 7500 miles on it without ever bringing it into Calif. I license our trike in Oregon, have 16,000 miles and it has been a year and 1/2 so I have the time and mileage just need to go see the DMV.
Jay has several bikes like his Jet and I know it won't pass smog. Another nice thing you will not have to pay the tax bill if brought in as used meeting the requirements as listed.

I just bought a 502 from California Boss Hoss last week. I am going to have to take delivery in Vegas and title the bike in Nevada until I get the 7,500 miles on the bike.

The small blocks are California certified and you can buy a new one in California and get it registered...

Hi Jack... And welcome. You are going to love it!!!! Will you get your bike in time for Laughlin next month?
I already got the VIN number. The bike is being built in TN on March 21. I am hoping the bike makes it to California by the end of the month. The guys at California Boss Hoss are already stretching a tank for me and have put together a 300 tire with fender. I'd like to think everything will go to paint next week and be done by the time the bike gets here.

If all goes well, I could make Laughlin. How many BH bikes are there in California? Does everybody get together for the ride?...

Great to hear your BH is being built! Be careful with the 300 tire!! It is not made for our bikes esp the 502. Depending partly on you driving habits these tires will be prone to catastrophic failure. If you want to be safe get the 18inch wheel from Chopper City and install a rounded profile car tire such as the Yokohama Advan A048. There are threads on this subject you should read before making your decision IMHO.

Hi Jack,
I am not sure on the number of bosses in California. I know there are at least 6 in our area. I believe there will be 4 in our group going to Laughlin.
