MY FATHER HAS A 99 BOSSHOSS WITH THE STOCK 11 COIL REAR SHOCKS, HIS UPER FRAME RAILS THAT THE SHOCKS ARE MOUNTED TO CRACKED IN HALF THE ROUND PART OF THE FRAME,EACH SIDE SAME EXACT SPOT. WHILE HE WAS RIDING IT AT 60MPH, HE WAS VERY LUCKY HE HAD THE 2 EXHAUST PIPES THE ONES THAT COME ON THE NEW BIKES SHORT ONES, THE BIKE FRAME CRACKED IN HALF THE BIKE DROPPED TO THE EXHOUST PIPES , KEPT HIM STRAIGHT WHILE SKIDDING ON THE STREET. WE DONT KNOW WHAT COUSED IT. BE WARE!!!!

Take a look at his shocks and see if the ball joint's where they mount to the frame is free . If they are not moving freely or are broken , this could cause stress to the mounting tabs . Just a thought .

Now THAT is SCARY! Also the first ime I've heard of this happening where the frame rails (both?) not the tabs for the shocks, actually failed completely.
When I sent my frame back to the factory for the late model steering neck I asked them to weld big gussets to the junction between the rear rails and downtubes anticipating a failure there but they declined to do it. Anyone else ever heard of this problem?....Joe

With as many milles as Glen has on his hoss... Considering he did have the frame neck to deal with.. I think this rear frame problem must be an isolated incident... must be some other factors here.... Something.....Or we would have known by now??

That is the first instance I've ever heard about. While I maybe a new Boss owner (1.5+ years) I have been looking at V8 bikes for over 6 years reading EVERYTHING I could find. I am surprised the exhaust could support the bike at 60MPH and the initial DROP even more surprised. :? I'd sure like to see pictures if available of where the break occured ...
