Well I did a dumb friggin move. My BH is stored in my cellar (ground level) and I have a steep ramp of about 4'. Too steep as the center of my BH hangs up there. So I foolishly made another ramp of 4 4x4"x 5' long side by side to lessen the steepness of the concrete ramp. Backing down my BH is a two person operation. But, no one was around and the sun was up with 65' weather. I could not wait (stupid) and decided to back out myself. ug. Got all way down and rear tire was on level pavement. Front tire did some strange movement and over goes my BH on left side as I jump off it fast (like superman leaping over a tall building-hahaaha). Boss went down on left side. I banged up my knees and arm when I landed but away from the Boss. Dang. I called my son and his friend and three of us got it back up right. Tank has scrape on left side and my left side exhaust is bent in . ug. Oil came out of the motor valve cover inlet and lots went into the cylinders. When I filled up with oil, started the BH, all kinds of smoke from left side (got into cylinders while BH was lying on left side). Bummer. No more cellar storage for my BH. Stupid move on my part. I think my confidence took a hit but I am sure it will come back once I get back on to ride it.
And how was YOUR day? hahaaha

There's no question at least for me that you need a ramp wide enough to be able to plant both feet on the ramp flat footed { about 3' wide at least } or your asking for trouble. Even with 2 0r 3 people helping you on a narrow ramp , if it starts to go , there's no stoping it . Sorry Milo

Ouch!!! Sorry to hear about your mishap. It could happen to anyone. Took 3 guys to pick her back up huh??? When I was backing my Boss down at Daytona off of my trailer, suddenly the tongue of the trailer popped off of the ball!!! I am sitting on the Boss and the front of my trailer pops up. I just about crapped my pants. The tongue was adjustable and I thought that it was adjusted tight enough, but I found out different. When I tried to lift it up with my hands, it wouldn't budge. But I guess that my weight and the weight of the Boss was to much. I adjusted it much tighter before trailering it back home. I drove it all the way from Syracuse NY like that. Could have been a major disaster.

I know what it is like to do dumb things So join us dumbo's. When I was at Inzane a
couple of years ago I started up my ramp during a big rain and caught the handle bars
on the lift wire. The Boss turned cross ways on the ramp on it's side. I had no one to
help me so I got a jack out and jacked it up enough to be able to stand it up by myself.
It was raining so hard and was a real mess. I was a little luckier than you cause it didn't
scratch it anywhere.

I guess we all do dumb things on our bikes eh. haahha. Well, today I am friggin sore. Both my knees hurt, my left ankle is twisted and both my shoulders are sore. When I "ejected" myself from my bike, I pushed hard and landed as if I were doing pushups. ug. Good thing I am in shape or it could have been worse. I will have to find a decent painter around here to touch up my tank on the left side. I will have to order new exhaust from Boss hoss as the left side is bent in too much. Oh well, such is life eh. hahahaha

Did the same thing on my first trip to Daytona with the Valk except the ramp fell off of the tailgate :( It's a long story and kinda funny now but I pretty much did the same thing you did but I didn't let the bike go down ;) I know it is 300 lbs lighter but hey, I'm not in good shape ;)

In 1970 I was picking up my new 750 Honda at Torrance Honda when this guy was driving his new 750 up on the back of his PU. He got almost to the top and zip it fell upside down and did severe damage to the thing. He picked up his ramp leaving the bike upside down and walked over to Vance (the service manager) and said fix it. Got in his truck and drove off. I know the guy was embarrassed but the nice thing was not a sole said a thing even after we all picked it up and he left.
Little did I know that Vance would become a big time race builder of the Vance and Hines.
