I was looking through Summit Racing website and there looks like there are a lot of Center Line wheels that you can get pretty cheap, I'm talking a billet wheel for under 140 bucks!

My question is who made the wheel that Boss Hoss used in 99 ? If I knew that then I could compare the specs and maybe fine a good replacement wheel. Has anyone ever done this?

Who makes this wheel?

I've thought exactly the same thing but never pursued it . After you get the hubs of the Mirage wheel it looks like a car wheel . It would seem all you would need to know is the centerline depth , flange thickness and bolt circle to compare it to a car rim .

This one is $175 bucks and looks killer. I have all the measurements of my wheel but I'm having a hard time finding the exact match. If I knew what wheel I had I could then cross it over to one of these rims.

rim width- 9"
center thickness- 1.45"
ouside of rim to face of flange (right side) is 2 7/8"
ouside of rim to face of flange (left side) is 4 3/8"
hole space is 5 1/4 by 3 1/4 as far as I can tell
center hole in rim is 4 1/4"

Hi Lamont...It's my understanding that you can't mount a motorcycle tire on a car rim but you CAN mount a car tire on a motorcycle rim. Just a word of caution if you ever find a motorcycle tire you like. You'll have to change the rim also...Joe

I don't think I would ever go back to a MC tire, I love everything about my car tire and really don't see a reason to go back.

I think what I am going to do is look into building a hub that will work with the most common size bolt pattern and then if guys want to go 15" or 18" with a car tire they could pick out their own rim for pretty cheap. For the price of these rims I could see having a spare rim and tire setup and ready to go. I just paid 70 bucks for the tire I have now and my old one wasn't that bad and I run that thing hard.

I can't be much help Lamont as far as info goes ... BUT I think having many choices can't be bad! Good luck tracking down the right info.

BTW
NICE job on cleaning that stock wheel! I hate cleaning wheels - not so much when off the bike though :)

Lamont....What size car tire are you running? I have a Michelin Pilot 235/60/15 HR and am not happy with it. Love the look and much easier burnouts but ground clearance is reduced (bashed my left side pipe for the first time) and high speed sweepers feel less confident..Joe

I'm running the 235/70/15 before I had the 225/70 and figured I would burn that up in two or three months, that was Oct 3, 2003 and I still had about a strong 1/8 of tread left and I lay rubber just about everytime I ride that bike. I'm sure you know this but the 70 stands for 70% of the tires width so your 60 would be shorter.

Lamont ,

I'd be interested in what you come up with . That second rim you posted a picture of is really nice . I might even consider a car tire . I've seen some black powdwer coated rims that I think would look cool with the right paint scheme . In the new Boss hoss Mag . the Earnhart bike looks good with black rims and think of it , no more polishing .
Like you say , for as little as these rims cost you could switch off if you got sick of them . Now for a matching front rim ?

I have a friend that just started cutting his own wheels, I'm sure I could get him to do something for us. I'm going to look into having him do the hub and I think we can incorporate a left side rotor into the hub while we are at it. 8)

Lamont, I know its probably not much of a help but I am pretty sure the wheel with the round holes used on the bikes before Mirage wheels were made by Weld. I took a look at weldracing.com and man they had some good looking wheels there and I bet they would love to see some of these on Boss Hoss's Mike//
