Hey Guys; I just found this message board. I bought a 2000 502 BB with nitrous from a guy in PA. last June. I love the bike, but you guys got me freakin about the transmission. I'm still running the John Deer hy-gard trans fluid. The one problem I had was on the fourth of July, I got stuck behind the parade and the bike was getting hot and the tranny started to slip. I added a chrome tranny cooler and it seemed to help ,but it was a cold summer. The bike hooks up well and can smoke the tire, I have put a thousand miles on last year putting the bike at 6,400 mi. Should I take it to a dealer or just drop the pan and see what's up, if anything? I planed on changing the fluid and cleaning the screen anyway.

Keeping the tranny cool and not power shifting into overdrive seems to be the key to keeping this tranny alive. If it was me I would drop the pan and put the Mobil One oil in it. You could call Jim and Nesco too and he will tell you more than you need to know about that tranny.
