Hi Oldman, If you have a 99 1 speed auto it came with Dex II. That is why it looks a little red. But you can use the MX4T in the one speed. The MX4T is a much better fluid and is compatible to mix with what ever Dex II that will still remain in the tranny during the fluid change.

The early two speeds (2000-2001) came with Hygard in them and they to should be refilled with MX4T.

Hi Oldman, The MX4T will mix with every type of fluid used in the Boss Hoss Tranny's. It is always best to try to get out as much of the old fluid as possible for good measure.

The only two that will not mix together are the John Deer High Guards. If you mix the low viscosity and high viscosity together it will foam.

Hi Jack, It all depends on how much fluid is still left in it. If it's dry it can take about 6-7 Qts. It sounds like alot but you have to fill the convertor, cooler and the hoses along with the res. and case. I put in 3qts. and start the engine, run it for a couple of minutes. Add 2 more and do the same. Then check the fluid level. Add as needed. If you buy too much just put it on the shelf. You'll be useing it down the road on the next change.

Trans fluid check

Thanks;

Nothing I've done on this Boss yet would be do-able without all y'all's advice and counseling.

Everything I've done to it so far has been the "first time"! Since being medically unemployed, learning how to wrench this thing has been my therapy, and I really enjoy it, cept for having to keep the front lawn so short. Easier to find the wrench's I get P O'ed (bi-focal ed!) and chunk out the garage door!

Actually my last "temper search" was for the key's. "I don't need to put those stinking shiny header shields on just to get this thing back into the garage!" Nice 2nd degree from that one! Wife got a giggle out of it though! By the way, WD-40 takes ugly skin looking crap off the headers, if you ever need to know that! OK, maybe long pants, but this IS Florida!

Really, it's a great forum and some great and knowledgeable folks to interface with!

Ride Safe!

Jack...about the headers. Fine 000 or 0000 steel wool works great and you can find 1800 degree silver spray paint to make them look new at any good speed shop. The stuff bonds very well once it is heated by the exhaust gases. You can do it on the bike if you are careful about masking. I also sanded the rusty clips and sprayed them as well..Joe
