From the posts by others to his Facebook page tonight, it appears our longtime friend Ric has passed. If I get any more details I will try to post them here. Great guy with a positive attitude through all his struggles with cancer and one of the best ever to visit with on this forum. I will always remember his famous quote that he signed nearly every post with....."Keep the magic alive"

Here's a picture of Ric I copied from his Facebook album.

Randy, you're right, he was one of a kind. I thought some time back that Ric was posting every cartoon he ever did to leave somewhat of a legacy here on this forum, knowing he might possibly not win the battle. This is very sad news, but not unexpected I guess. I'll never forget his friendship!

This is terrible news for me and all of us V8 fellows, Ric's family, and his friends. Condolences to all.

I sent him a text 2 days ago hoping for a good reply as a month ago he was not well at all but I hoped for the best.

We have lost a true friend..one with humour, honesty, integrity and one who truly enjoyed life.

Ric fought a battle that hopefully no one here ever has to face. His suffering is over and is at peace.

Ric bought a 2006 502 bike from me sight unseen..sent all the money and then picked it up a week later. I had never met Ric personally before he walked into the shop with a grin I won't forget and said " I am Ric, here to pick up my new 502" We visited for a couple hours that day and I got an insight of what Ric was all about. Over the years he just proved to be an awesome man and really true friend.

It is truly sad to write this: Rest in peace Ric..your suffering is over and you are home.

I'm trying to grasp control of my emotions from hearing tonight of ric's passing. a week or so one of his family was getting ready to visit Ric in the hospital (as posted on FB) I quickly told her I was a friend of his. I asked what was going on, She wrote right back He was in for tests, But had all given up Pain, sickness. We were kinda connected as we were taking our Cancer treatments at the same time. I really feel bad as I didn't make the effort to travel to see Him.... RIP Dear v8 Brother till we meet dow the road! Tom P.S. Payers to his Family and friends!

I did not realize he was this ill as of late.

Rest in peace Ric, you were one of a kind.

Like many on this forum, I never personally met Ric. However, through his wit and humor, his mad-max approach and ingenuity, and through the cartoon eyes and mind of his cat Raven, he was a personality and a friend known to all of us. This is a loss and a sad day indeed............and I suspect there are many others outside of the motorcycle world who's lives he touched positively as well. As is often the case, the good go too quickly.............

One of the first people to welcome me to this site was Ric. If there was something to learn from him, it was to always be positive and to never offend others in your replies (can we take this forward as part of his legacy?). He was always helpful without making you think that you are stupid.

As I started to know him better we had a number of PMs. I learned about his illness, about his relationship with Christ, his hopes and his passion for his V8 Boss.

I started to miss his usual posts on the forum a while back, contacted a forum member that got info that Ric was in hospital and it was not going well.

Now he is gone to be with God. No more sorrow, pain or worries. I'm glad for him - very glad, but for me? I've lost a friend I've never met; I have never even heard his voice and I'm very sad to say the least. Till we meet, Ric!

Very nicely put Wyne...great words.

My father passed away 12 days ago at 91 and we laid him to rest Monday...was a sad 12 days but he is suffering no more as is Ric. Ric's passing now is just another reminder of how miraculous life is but yet so so fragile. Gwen is a constant reminder of how short and fragile life is and I never take anything for granted anymore and enjoy the heck out of everyday we are honoured with.

We have lost a very good friend in the V/8 community. I talked to Ric and he was always respectful of this group and was a fun guy to be around. We met at the first Canadian ride inn several years ago and was the same the last time we talked as the very first.
The thing we (and Ric believes in) is to celebrate his life because he has new life that will be better than it is here.

He will be missed

I never met Ric in person either but when I was in the hospital and they told me I had Cancer he sent me a cartoon that had me hooked up to chemo doing a treatment and said at least you can down this bottle and don't have to worry about driving afterwards. As bad as times were for me at this time it sure brought a smile on my face. I sure hated hearing the news of Ric's passing and it sure hits home for me and my family. Prayers going out to the family and Ric we will see you soon my V8 brother !

Mike...it is tomorrow...here is the info copied from Facebook:

"Memorial Services for Ric Mossip
will be on held on Saturday Sept 13/14 at 3:00pm at 22 Oreston Close Red Deer Alberta in the backyard/garage.
I have created a event page as well please feel free to invite Ric's friends so the word gets out. If you have any questions send a private message and we will try to answer any questions.
Ric's friends who are on facebook would you please share this status update. Thanks Al and JoAnne Mossip"

Bryan and I are riding from Airdrie and Mark Fenske and his son are riding from Irskine which is about 45 minutes East of RedDeer. So 4 V8's so far...not easy for you but somehow doable...awesome if you could show up but understandable if you don't for sure...specially now that the mountains are full of frigging snow.

Home from Ric's Memorial. It was held in his brother's backyard and we lucked out on the weather considering the past 5 days. Only about 50 or 55 or so F.

Bryan Ward and I rode up from here..about 70 miles and Mark Fenske and his son Ryan rode from North of us for 45 miles. We had 4 V8 rides present which was really nice to see...the family liked it too as they had mostly only seen Ric's 502.

It was a very good memorial and well attended which shows the kind of person Ric was...which we pretty much already knew.

I believe Ric has latched onto some kind of ride up there and is looking down at us or is with us as we ride...take care my friend.

They say everybody has a twin or close.

Friday evening Gwen and I went for my birthday supper to a really nice restaurant we like. We are sitting beside a table of 3 waiting for the 4th to arrive.

I was floored when the 4th arrived. it was a 95% clone of Ric and he was in my view the whole time we were there. Gwen was also blown away but she has only seen pics of Ric and never met him in person.

Somehow Ric played a part in this...just bringing him to the forefront again for a bit. The Universe is an awesome place to be.

Here's the video of Ric spreading his brother's ashes. It's on the return trip down the hill. That was a great way to pay tribute to our friend Ric! Never met him in person, but felt I knew him well after years of being together here on this board. Still think of him a lot and his collections of cartoons are still here on this forum. I had a feeling when he was posting them daily to make sure we had them all that things were not going well with his health. RIP Ric!

I apologize for breaking my vow to stay off the board and be on the sidelines only. BUT for this topic I need / must to comment.

THANK YOU for finding that video and taking the time to post here. I grabbed the link and shared it on Ric's Facebook page which is still active with friends and family telling how much they miss Ric. I did not know Ric's family until the Memorial Service at his brother's house. In conversations on the phone with Al, Ric's brother, in dealing with selling Ric's 502 it was very unreal how Al sounds on the phone so much like Ric...was almost like talking to Ric himself.

Not many days go by that I don't think of Ric..he was a man through and through and set an example.

I truly believe that Ric's energy is with us and this does not land on deaf ears.
