:pray:Prayers are sent to a good friend !! My condolences to all of his famly & friends. He will be greatly miss RIP my friend.. we sent e-mails jokes all the time. I will miss him greatly . This is a letter i sent to jack on 2/11 . The powers to be said ok jack said he will try to work on it .last time i spoke to jack he was not feeling good ,and he was going to see what he can do.I am writing this to a comment i read.... I would like this to come to be. This is the letter:

To Whom it may concern; I Brian Stack (brian54) like to propose a section on our V8 site called (Family Remembers ) to all our love ones and friends who pasted on .Of course ,the permission of the next of kin .I would like to see a picture of the deceased in happier times and the date he or she pasted on also maybe the age. a small tribute to the person by the family or friends. We as a V8 family would not be able to write in anything, only the loved ones of the deceased can, then send it to the administratorto put on the web site. The administrator would have sole control on that .I think it would get to long if we as a family would write in. The above mentioned is not set in stone but we would like to do something in this manor. We owe it to our self to remember our family & friends in this way as a final tribute of their everlasting memory.

What a shock. Jack went out of his way to help me with some things and I will never forget him. Everybody liked Jack, he was a great guy. RIP Jack

10-08-2011, 02:19 PM
Beyond shocked.....they just don't get any better than Jack. He was the one that always stepped forward when someone had a problem or distress in their families. I am saddened at the news and proud he allowed me to be his friend. Most of you know of his service to his country and helicopter skills but it was not until I visited his home that I discovered his many heroic medals in humble display in his front room. I don't want to misstate but I believe one was a purple heart amongst the many. RIP Jack. Hopefully Tom or someone that is in touch with Pam can pass on our condolences and ask if there is anything we can do to assist her through this difficult time.

10-08-2011, 02:23 PM
Don't know what to say except I am shocked.

Godspeed Jack
I am heatbroken! Jack was a good friend, I cant believe he is gone. Marilyn and I stayed with Jack and Pam in their home, they were great host. There is a hugh hole in the v8 world that won't be easily filled.
Jack helped me so much with my bike. I have often thought of him when I was riding my bike knowing my enjoyment was because of him.
Dear Lord Please take care of my friend.

I first meet Jack in Daytona when he was hauling the
beer in his brown beer buggy. This was at the Shell
station where Marv, Barry and Tim set up displays.
He was having Marv do some rebuilding on his Nesco.
I sat on the tail gate of that truck and we talked for
hours about bikes and being in the Army. The following
year he bought my 1991 BH (Kit #1).
We talked many, many times on the phone, I always loved
hearing his stories.
This is a shock and a very big loss to me and the whole
V8 family.
Condolences to Pam and the rest of his family.

Wow! Shocked here too. I met Jack in Miami (OK) and we talked on the phone and emailed a few times. He was keenly interested in getting a small R/C helicopter and I work in the R/C business so we had that in common along with motorcycles.

He also helped us sell Cheryl's Yamaha Route 66 a couple years ago to his friend Deborah in Florida.

He called me a few months back with some motorcycle question (that I can't remember now), but it was a pleasure talking with him.

He will definitely be missed!

Our prayers are with Pam and the rest of Jack's family.

You remain a great friend to me. Only your body is finished, not your spirit. I hope you understand that I hope it's a long time until I see you again, but when we do, we will have all the time in the world to look back at the good times. You'll light up one of those stinkyass dogturds and I'll pull out a whiskey and we'll laugh again. I look forward to the day my friend. Until then, I'll miss you.

10-09-2011, 02:01 AM
This is one rare time I'm at a loss for words! I'm still in a veil of denial on this news! Our Hawk88 emailed me a time or two, once or twice to cuss me out for cussing on this site, and in short order, I became one of his biggest fans when I heard a little history about his time in the Military, as well as the fact that his heart is bigger than Texas! I mean this when I say, I was rocked back on my heels when I was told I had a nasty version of Cancer... and I'm dealing with it... but that news is NO WHERE NEAR as hard as the news of our Jack passing on!!

Hawk... thanks for those chats, and 'scoldings' from the earlier days, and responses to my goofy ideals on this awesome site! I'll catch up with you some day soon, and we'll get to know each other in real time.

My prayers, and hopes that Pam and you cats fair out well with this ... and like Jack would hope... that you Keep The Magic Alive!

Here are some pics to bring our spirits up about Jack...taken in Miami when I visited the Oklahoma Rally and met a lot of this Forum there..a pic with friends..a pic showing he did not mind rain riding and another that is well...I am not sure ...sorry in advance Bryan!!.

Memories should be good ones.

He was "THE V8 AMBASSADOR"....Great sense of Humor and great Guy to Talk with .....He always had the Crazy Helmet and looked like he Was Rode Hard and Put away wet......I can only imagine what people thought when they would see him coming with that wild assed Beard flowing in the wind....If they only knew how Great of an American Soldier he was.....He will be deeply missed by all....
Thank You Jack for being my Friend....It was a privelage and a Honor ...

7297 Jack with his "helmut" on.

7298 Me trying to help Hawk look more presentable.

7299 Getting ready to leave Jack's driveway for the short trip to Daytona

7300 Jack imparting knowledge before we leave.

7301 Shell station on Ridgewood in Daytona. TJY, Greenbean & Hawk

7302 Jack's plan to get his transmission fixed...50/50 tickets at Chops

7303 Marv pondering the transmission issue...Jack is on the far left having a soda.

7304 Jack, myself, TJY and Ravininsomniac...Biketoberfest '06

Jack Phillips and Milo McKinley were with me the first time I rode a Boss Hoss...Biketoberfest 2005. I had bought my bike sight unseen and had it delivered to First Turn by Steve from Milwaukee Boss Hoss. Seems like Jack, Milo, Tom Young, and Curly made a mini-event out of meeting me there and welcoming the new guy into the fold. Met them all that first day in the parking lot and it is no coincidence that they were the nicest folks you'd ever want to meet.

For me Jack then became the heart an soul of the V8 community, particularly as it was incarnated on this internet forum. He was a clearing house of knowledge, friendly, outgoing, sometimes the devil in disguise, but more often than not the voice of reason. His undying willingness to help will be his legacy. Great story teller, and he had a bunch of them. One of the biggest characters I've ever met. I'm proud to say he was a friend and my experience on this plane of existance is decidedly richer for having known him.

He has passed from here to there; but wherever that journey leads, I'm sure he received a warm embrace for a job well done.

10-09-2011, 01:54 PM
Like so many others have said Jack was a GREAT person and even better friend. If you had the chance to meet and get to know Jack you should count yourself lucky. I feel I am a better person for knowing him and being able to call him a friend.

RIP Jack

10-09-2011, 02:24 PM
My first BH Rally (and haven't missed one since) was the last one at Dyersburg which may well go down as the best they have ever had or will ever have. I had just gotten my trike and didn't even know anybody else that had a BH. When I left home going to the Rally I was feeling a little inferior as I'm not as well off financially as some BH owners. At that Rally, I was fortunate enough to meet Jack, Adrian, Tom, Conrad, Billy and Phyllis. Little did I know how important each of every one was to the V8 community. All I knew was they were nice, friendly people who didn't really care what I had or didn't have and whose friendship I treasure to this day. Jacks passing leaves a spoke missing from the V8 wheel, one that will never be filled. When we go to meet Jack we can only hope we leave the same legacy of friendship and positive impact on others that he did.

I just now turned on the computer and this was the first post I saw and Jenn and I are in shock beyond belief. I don't think anyone saw this coming.

Jack was one of my favorite people. I first met him at Daytona Bike Week in 2005 and we hit it off immediately, which is how it is for everyone who ever met him. You just instantly had to love the guy. I met him a number of times since including the time he came up here to visit Stu and Diana.

Our condolences to Pam and the other members of his family. We will miss you Jack. RIP.

Best regards,

Wow so sorry to hear the news. Never met the guy but echanged emails many times. God bless.

10-09-2011, 06:11 PM
In 2004, I met Jack and Pam for the first time. We (wife and I) had ridden my new Boss Hoss to Daytona. Jack and I had known one another through this site, and other V8 bike sites. The first Boss I had was a clutch type '97, and as soon as he found out we were riding the Boss to Datona, he told me where we were going to meet him and his lovely and sweet wife. We met them in the parking lot, and he wanted me to ride his clutch bike and compare it to the one I used to have. We found Jack and Pam not only were wonderful people, but the type of people that you truly enjoy being around. It was as if we had known one another for years! Through the years, Jack and I have talked, exchanged e-mail, and I want to say...Jack, Pam...is is an absolute honor to have known such a wonderful, kind, and thoughtful patriot such as Jack. When you look into Jacks eyes, you could truly see the wonderful man he was. And he never met a stranger. Oh how I wish myself and others could be half the man Jack was.
Jack, I love you Brother, and we will ride together again someday, keep the Angels laughing, and someday it will be my honor and privilege to meet you. You simply went home first.
Pam, please know that we are here....I know many of us are far away. But please believe me when I tell you this...you are in our hearts, and prayers, and we love you and your family.
Jack, I salute you and Pam from my heart. May God bless you all, and be with you as I know he will.

I'll never forget this:

My wife, myself, Gi and Barb met Jack's mom at Miami, Ok. Barb took her hand and patted it and with her motherliest voice said,"We know you did the best you could........"

HA! We all laughed hard and poor Jack just stood there looking anything but like poor Jack.......

I remember that day Ed, and will never forget it. The Original 5 has lost 2 of the finest. First Milo, now Jack. I'm still in shock over Jack.:*-(

I spent twenty minutes the other night two finger typing alot of things about my "brother" Jack,Then the FRIGGING internet crashed from the '5' inches of rain at the koa.
All the times i was at his house with him working on my trike,He would say "we" did the work but he was the master. i look at all the wonderful pictures everybody posted of our friend, Most make the tears flow again, I wish someone could build a dvd of them all probabuly a mission inpossible.

Jack wouldn't want us/ mainly me to be sad over his "early departure", I knew Milo was very sick but this with jack was very sudden.. I remember
Jack telling me that when he goes he wanted Pam to throw his ashes into
a turbine intake for "one last compressor stall" I would laugh and say your going to be around forever. I didn't think the last time I would see Jack was when they stopped here at the rv to pick up some stuff in may on the way to anderson sc.

The reason I started this was to tell Ed his post echoed my thoughts...

God Speed my Brother Jack ..I love you! RIP.

Very sorry to hear about Jacks passing.
RIP Jack.

10-10-2011, 07:47 PM
we have heard from Pam and she's not heard offically what caused Jack's death but she feels it was a heartattack and he could'nt breathe even after the emt's arrived. He died in the ambulance in the driveway.

He didn't want a funeral, but wanted to be cremated.. If Pam decides to
have a celebration of life it most likely will be in OK.

We will pass along anything more as we hear it.

10-10-2011, 11:24 PM
Tom... you are Top Notch! Thanks... I've told many of my struggle with Jack's passing. Thanks for giving us a bit more info on what went on (even though the news may not be official). Maybe it's a bit soon for Pam to take on organizing a Celebration of Life... I have her in my Prayers for strength in dealing with this situation. Your support for Pam and those that are close to them means much to a V8 community that remains rocked in their socks over Jacks passing! I speak from afar, but feel VERY CLOSE to all of you!

Wow, I signed in yesterday and saw the news about Jack. I tried to write something yesterday but had to stop, just couldn't find my words and I still can't.

Jack was a great guy and I will miss him for sure. Everytime I saw him or talked to him we'd laugh. Motorcycles, aircraft, atv's we had a lot in common. The world will be a lesser place with the loss of Jack ... RIP Hawk 88

I've had a hard time coming to grips with this myself. Jackie was one guy I loved to talk to and he use to call me all the time when I ran the board. He loved V8 bike people and he lived life to the fullest. Through the years I've seen a lot of folks come and go on my boards but Jackie will be one I will truly miss seeing his smiling face. We all loved you Bro

Very sad day. When I first got my boss in 05, I would be under my bike with the speaker phone on and Jack telling me what to, AND NOT, to do. Jack was a great man. He will be missed by all.

in total disbelief ,,, never met Jack but conversed with him lots ,,, all started when I gave him a rad fan ,,, he would send notes at like 04:00 AM his time while i was overseas ,,, I would ask him why he was up at such a time and he would tell me he had issues with sleeping through the night ,,, we would then converse about his time overseas and such ,,, Fantastic man ,,, my condolences to family and friends ,,,

This is a quote Daddy enjoyed and I can hear them coming out of his mouth

"The purpose of life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave with a well-preserved body, but rather to Slide in Sideways, completely used up, yelling and screaming, what a ride!" Author Unknown

The following is an excerpt from a book that has given Mamma strength:

Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I, and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we are to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. What is the death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner. All is well.
Rosamunde Pilcher from book September

And lastly I find this fitting

Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright, Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieve it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death who see with blinded sight, Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Dylan Thomas, 1939

I don't know why but this little note by poet John Donne has always struck me as particularly poignant during times of grief.

No man is an island entire of itself; every man
is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
Any man's death diminishes me,
because I am involved in mankind.
And therefore never send to know for whom
the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

Sad day indeed. Sorry I just found out yesterday late. Our condolences go out to Pam, Jennifer and family and all his friends. Jack was a great person to talk to. Always fun and was always to help in an instant. I go back a long way in the V-8 community and he has been an intrical part of that community. He will be greatly missed and I am honored to have been able to have some time with him. RIP Jack.

Yes I remember that very well. and Barbara told Jack's Mom to make me be good, and She said ...why..it never worked for Jack.

Jack was one of my best friends ever, I never saw Jack as often as I would of liked, but we e-mailed everyday and we talked on the phone often. I was waiting for Jack to finish his new property and I was planning to go to S. C. and spend sopme time with Jack. We were both excited and looking forward to that visit. Now our visit will have to wait until I meet him , and we can Ride through the clouds with the angels above.

One Night about a year ago, I can't remember why., but I thought of Jack and for some reason I felt there was somnething wrong, So I called him and he said he was just fine. Then I remembered the time change and I had called him at 2:00 A.M. and woke him up, and I said I'm sorry for the late call, I did not think about the time I was worried about you. Jack laughed and said I really apperciate you checking on me , you can call any time.

Jack, Until we meet again my friend.
