Hi,

Need some guidence on the following:

According to two different "official" Boss Hoss documents the VIN-decoding is as follows:

Position 1: Assigned by SAE as the acting agent for the NHTSA
Position 2: Assigned by SAE as the acting agent for the NHTSA
Position 3: Assigned by SAE as the acting agent for the NHTSA
Position 4: T = TWO WHEEL or K = TRIKE
Position 5: B=BOSS HOSS or, S=Super Sport or, A= Coupe, B= ‘57Chevy, C= Truck,D=Gangsta
Position 6: S = V6 or V = V8
Position 7: C = CHEVY
Position 8: 2 = 265 c.i. or 3 = 350 c.i. or 4 = 502 c.i. or 6 = 364 c.i. or 7 = 376 c.i.
Position 9: CHECK DIGIT
Position 10: MODEL YEAR (3 = 2003)
Position 11: PLANT (D = DYERSBURG)
Position 12: Assigned by SAE as the acting agent for the NHTSA
Position 13: Assigned by SAE as the acting agent for the NHTSA
Position 14: Assigned by SAE as the acting agent for the NHTSA
Position 15: SEQUENTIAL PRODUCTION NUMBER
Position 16: SEQUENTIAL PRODUCTION NUMBER
Position 17: SEQUENTIAL PRODUCTION NUMBER

My question is about Posision 8 for year model 2003.

A lot of BH BHC-3 ZZ4 have a "2" in this position indicating that it has a 265 cui engine with 200hp. Still all of this bikes have a 350 cui with 355 or 385 hp.

Can someone "grown-up" person with some detailed knowledge about this explane please.....

Thanks.
