Enter/Return Issues

For some reason I'm unable to use the 'enter' button on my computer to complete normal line/paragraph spacing when I post or when I write/respond to private messages. When I hit 'enter' it does nothing and the cursor remains in the same position. The 'enter' works on normally on my computer for any other site or action but this site. The only way I can write a post with normal paragraph spacing is to do it in word and then copy/paste to the site. Interestingly, if I use the space bar as well to provide separation in the message, it looks like there is spacing occurring but when it 'posts' the spacing is gone. (I put 12 spaces between 'site' and 'Interestingly' in the previous sentence break). To further add to the oddity, the enter/return function works fine on my Ipad when I post using it. Thoughts?

Look for an Icon with an A/A in the area where you can select from many tools for editing. If you hover over it, it says to switch editor to WYSIWYG Mode. If you click on that icon you can then use your enter key. I am surprised that this mode is not the default.

It's pretty weird - for some reason even though my system was set for WYIWSG in the settings, it still will not allow it to work. I've had to change the setting to the Standard Editor setting to get it to work. Now when I type a response like this one, the A/A is already 'clicked' and highlighted and I can use the return normally. The primary difference is that you don't actually 'see' some of the editing you do, but symbols. For example, bolding doesn't show in your typing box as being bolded, but rather shows the symbols for bolding prior to and at the end of the section you want to bold. However, it does show what the message will look like in the 'preview' pane. Go figure.

To access the settings in the system to check your settings you simply have to click 'Settings' in the upper right, then 'General Settings' in the list and then scroll down to the 'Miscellaneous Options'. Otherwise you can simply just click on the A/A each time you post.

Or, it could be just me. I'm reminded of an incident a few years back when I received a new company laptop that was giving me issues. Each time I tried to shut it down it simply rebooted. I took it into the IT department and told one of the specialists of my issue. She took the computer and futzed with it a bit, then said, "Well, computers only do what you tell them to, and somehow you've inadvertently set it to 'restart' each time you shut it down." From a cubicle back in the corner of the room I heard a voice mutter, "Pebcak." The specialist immediately broke into a little smile. I asked her, "What did they say?" to which she replied, "Nothing". I said, "No, I really would like to know." She took out piece of paper and wrote:

P
E
B
C
A
K

And then she explained the acronym, "Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard". :roflblack:
